Welcome to Sionnach Abú (‘Fox Forever’), a WordPress Blog dedicated to the Ó Sionnaigh or Fox family, one of the ancient aristocratic lines of Ireland.

Through the various tabs above can be gained access to information about the origins and history of the Ó Sionnaigh family in Irealnd, and their central role in the life and politics of the Irish midlands from the 11th to 17th centuries AD (and with origins going back even further than that).

Please explore and offer any comments or contributions you think might be helpful or informative.

Go raibh maith agat.

Séamas Ó Sionnaigh, An Sionnach

  1. Dia dhiut a Sheamais,
At last I find something of our name worth the paper its written on. I’m from Derry City and although there are not too many of us in the city, there is a strong contingent with the Fox name. I would love to be able to trace my ancestry further back than my great-grandfather and this web-site has reinvigorated that longing. Keep up the good work and I look forward to learning more.

  2. Thanks, Kieran. Glad you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen so far. I’ve shamefully neglected Sionnach Abú since setting it up, especially as I have lots of new information gathered. Must take a weekend soon and update it all.

  3. Greetings. I am a descendant of the Fox family living in the United States. I have a book, written by a cousin of mine in 1984 called, “The Fox Family of Kilcoursey.” There is a great deal of information contained in this book that I would happily share with everyone who is interested. Please let me know if you are interested.

  4. Hello Seamus, I am trying to get in touch with you. I live in Offaly and have a good bit of information on the Foxes (I used to run a website on it) and would love to speak with you. Thanks very much – MJ Fox
